Laura Jane Grace reckons with heartbreak on “Cuffing Season”

After a guest appearance at Dinosaur Jr.’s Brooklyn show last night, where she played a cover of the Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” Laura Jane Grace has shared the new single “Cuffing Season.”

The Hole in My Head cut, which follows “Dysphoria Hoodie” and the title track, is another testament to her tender songwriting and resiliency. “I think as you get older and go through life’s hurts and heartbreaks, it gets harder and harder to let yourself be open and vulnerable,” Grace says. “But when you do, it can be so worth it, even if you just end up hurt and heartbroken again. In the end, I don’t think you regret those kinds of losses. I think you regret not trying.”

Grace will play shows this December and January with Mya Byrne, and she’s also readying a more extensive U.S. tour in March with Thelma and the Sleaze and Dikembe, launching in Indianapolis March 2 and wrapping March 24 in Fort Worth. Grab tickets here.
