Like Pacific frontman remembers his late grandmother in heartwrenching video for "22A"—watch

Like Pacific frontman Jordan Black scrapped the original lyrics to “22A” right before it was recorded.

“While recording [Distant Like You Asked], I finished up a session for the night and headed out with some friends,” Black explains. “I received a phone call around midnight from my father. He had told me that my grandmother, who I had lived with for the last five years, had passed away.

“This prolonged the recording process by a few weeks. I was very distraught and carried a lot of blame for not being there for her. I decided to scratch the lyrics to one of the last songs we were recording and re-wrote them—something I never wanted to do, but, now, I feel much better about going through with it.”

Now, Like Pacific are premiering a video for the extremely emotional song, which you can see below.

“As much as I hate the fact that I had to write this song, I kept it very personal, but open for people to connect with on different levels, whether it's a friend or a family member,” Black says. “I hope the video does justice, to show how I feel everyday.”

“22A” comes from Like Pacific's debut album Distant Like You Asked, which released on Feb. 19. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the band formed in 2010 with Black on vocals, Greg Hall on guitar, Luke Holmes on guitar and Chris Thaung on bass.
