Linkin Park’s ‘Hybrid Theory’ anniversary merch is a throwback to 2000

It’s hard to believe that Linkin Park‘s debut album Hybrid Theory is celebrating its 20-year anniversary.

In celebration of the anniversary, Linkin Park have released some capsule merch exclusively for fans. The retro merchandise is reflective of the Hybrid Theory era. As well, the collection is based around the album’s lead single “One Step Closer.”

Linkin Park have been teasing the Hybrid Theory 20-year anniversary for quite some time. They recently redid their website to be reminiscent of computers two decades ago. The website features hidden details that tease some of the things Linkin Park have in store for the Hybrid Theory anniversary.

As well, Mike Shinoda previously promised fans that Linkin Park are doing something big for the album’s anniversary. In an interview back in July, Shinoda said that the band have received input from close friends about what they should do for the celebration.

We’ve done our best to go to a lot of people who are family, in a sense, and say, ‘What do you think we should do? What would be a good celebration of Hybrid Theory?’ and try our best to do a bunch of those ideas,” he says.

Although he kept most secrets to himself, Shinoda also shared that Linkin Park will have plenty in store for this year’s anniversary.

“I would urge the fanbase to just let it happen,” he says. “The Linkin Park fanbase is always one of the most creative and active fanbases out there. So always, the problem for me is that if I’m not allowed to divulge information because I want it to be a surprise, then the creative fanbase starts jumping out and imagining things. They come up with their own great ideas – and then once in a while those great ideas are better than our ideas!”

Now, Linkin Park have officially unveiled some new merch in celebration of the Hybrid Theory anniversary. The artwork for the album’s lead single “One Step Closer” now appears on various new merch items including t-shirts, hoodies, hats, keychains and more. All of the items are reminiscent of the band’s merchandise back in 2000. The new items range from $10 – $60.

Hybrid Theory’s biggest single “In The End” recently hit a major streaming milestone. The single’s video surpassed one billion views on YouTube back in July.

Shinoda also revealed earlier this year that Linkin Park still have unreleased music featuring Chester Bennington.
