Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear join forces again for “my ex’s best friend”
Machine Gun Kelly is treating fans to another new song this week. On Friday, he released another collaboration with blackbear called “my ex’s best friend.”
The new song is off of MGK’s forthcoming album Tickets To My Downfall which arrives Sept. 25.

Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear have collaborated on various tracks over the years. In 2012, the duo worked together on “End Of The Road,” off of MGK’s debut full-length Lace Up and even performed the song live at EST Fest.
Then, in 2017, blackbear dropped his album cybersex. Along with various other collaborations on the LP, the duo teamed up for “e.z.” Both MGK and blackbear are also featured on the Mod Sun track “Shoot ‘Em Down,” off of Mod Sun’s 2015 album Look Up.
Machine Gun Kelly first began teasing a new collab with blackbear back in December 2019. After revealing that his next release is going to be a full-on pop-punk album, MGK hinted about a future collab with blackbear. He took to his Instagram story to share a text message that included an audio file, captioning the image with “ay the @bear vocals came in.”
Now, after nearly nine months, the collaboration is finally here. On Aug 7., MGK dropped “my ex’s best friend” featuring blackbear. The new song is off of Machine Gun Kelly’s forthcoming album Tickets To My Downfall. The Travis Barker-produced LP arrives on Sept. 25.

“my ex’s best friend” is the third track to be released from the new album. Following “bloody valentine” and, most recently, “concert for aliens,” “my ex’s best friend” has a bigger pop influence than the previously released songs.
Along with blackbear, Tickets To My Downfall is set to include various other collaborations. In January, MGK teased a collab with the Used‘s Bert McCracken. He also shared various clips of him in the studio with Goody Grace and Mod Sun and confirmed that Trippie Redd, Young Thug and YUNGBLUD are also part of the new project.
Earlier this week, Machine Gun Kelly debuted the new track “concert for aliens.” He first teased the new song during his Good Morning America performance last month.
As well, “bloody valentine” is nominated for Best Alternative at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Head here to cast your votes for this year’s award ceremony.
