Machine Gun Kelly first hinted about his full-on rock album back in November 2019. MGK shared various videos and photos of him hard at work in the studio with blink-182‘s Travis Barker.

Then, he wrapped up 2019 by officially confirming that a rock album is on its way in 2020.

In January 2020, we finally learned the name of the Barker-produced project: Tickets To My Downfall. MGK shared in an interview with Zane Lowe that Barker originally came up with the album’s title.

“[Barker] actually had brought up that name one time,” he says. “We were working on a song and I was like, to me that sounds like when you know you play a show or whatever, everyone comes by and is like ‘what up Kells, what up Travis’ or whatever and they’re there for all of the bright lights and amazing shows and green rooms and backstage parties and stuff but they may not know what you are going through on a day to day basis.”

Since the official announcement of Tickets To My Downfall, MGK has confirmed various collabs this year. In January, he teased collaborations with not only blackbear, but also the Used‘s Bert McCracken. He also shared various clips of him in the studio with Goody Grace and Mod Sun and confirmed that Trippie ReddYoung Thug and YUNGBLUD are also part of the new project.

MGK has pulled various rock inspirations for this forthcoming LP. In April, he revealed that bands including ParamoreTaking Back SundayLagwagonYellowcard and blink-182 all influenced the sound on Tickets To My Downfall.

Tickets To My Downfall was originally going to be released earlier this year. However, back in February, MGK revealed that its release had been pushed back to summer. Now, fans are still waiting for a confirmed release date for the album.

We got our first official taste of Tickets To My Downfall back in May with the release of the explosive first single “Bloody Valentine.” Following its release, the single debuted at No.1 on Billboard‘s Rock Digital Song Chart. MGK also unveiled a cinematic video for the single starring Megan Fox. The video is also up for Best Alternative at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. Voting is open now here with the VMAs airing Aug. 30.

Since its release, Machine Gun Kelly has performed “Bloody Valentine” on various television shows including the Late Late Show With James Corden and, most recently, Good Morning America. During his GMA performance on July 20, he also performed a clip of a brand new song alongside Barker.

Soon after the performance, MGK revealed that the new song is called “concert for aliens” and is off of Tickets To My Downfall.

Now, MGK has officially released the pop-punk single with a new video pending as well.

On Aug. 1, MGK revealed that the video for “concert for aliens” is one of his favorites and is directed by Mod Sun. The duo have been longtime collaborators and recently revisitedStay Away,” their hit collab with Goody Grace, for an acoustic performance. Mod has also directed past videos for MGK including “Sail” and “All Night Long.”

“concert for aliens” offers another taste of what’s to come from Tickets To My Downfall. With a classic pop-punk sound of rhythmic guitars and intense drums, this new single will be a favorite amongst fans.

Along with the release of “concert for aliens,” another Tickets To My Downfall song is also due out this week.
