The three songs on the EP were all recorded in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 lockdowns. The EP features “roll the windows up” (a reimagining of Big Sean‘s “Smoke & Drive”), “pretty toxic revolver” and a PVRIS mashup “in these walls (my house).” Although MGK has recently taken a more alternative, pop-punk approach to his music, these songs hark back to his hip hop days.

MGK announced the drop on Twitter, writing, “It’s been two years since ‘lockdown sessions’ hit YouTube, finally time to upload on streaming platforms…” He added in another tweet, “All this in celebration of MAINSTREAM SELLOUT coming soon 3.25.2022.”

The musician previously said he would release two new projects this year. Could the EP be the first, with Mainstream Sellout the second, or is there another full-length in the works from the artist?
