MGK could have his biggest chart debut yet with ‘Tickets To My Downfall’
Now, the early sales projections for the LP are in and MGK could have his biggest chart debut yet with Tickets To My Downfall.
Throughout his career, Machine Gun Kelly has had four albums debut within the Billboard 200's Top 10. Last year, Hotel Diablo debuted at No.5 with 39,000 equivalent units sold. Prior to this, he reached his highest chart position - No.4 - with both Lace Up and General Admission.
However, it looks like Tickets To My Downfall may be his biggest debut yet. HITS Daily Double has unveiled its projections for this week's sales. According to the predictions, Tickets To My Downfall is set to debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200. It's anticipated to move 80,000 to 90,000 equivalent album units including 40,000 to 45,000 in album sales.
Although the official numbers are not in yet, HITS Daily Double has been correct with predictions in the past. Last month, the site predicted that Metallica's S&M2 would beat Katy Perry's Smile for the top debut album spot. In the end, the predictions were correct.
MGK has already made history with the music charts this year. Back in August, his single "my ex's best friend" with blackbear dethroned twenty one pilots for the coveted No.1 spot on Billboard's Rock Streaming Songs chart. twenty one pilots' "Level Of Concern" originally held the position for four months.
“my ex’s best friend” is the first Rock Streaming Songs No. 1 for both Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear. The single also reached the No.7 spot on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart. MGK previously earned two No. 4 spots on this chart for iann dior‘s “Sick And Tired” and “bloody valentine,” his lead Tickets To My Downfall single which also earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song chart.
Since Tickets To My Downfall's release, various songs have surpassed a million streams on Spotify. Among those songs is "forget me too," his collaboration with Halsey which has surpassed over 4 million streams on the platform. Last week, MGK and Travis Barker, who produced the album, revealed how the collaboration came to be.
Along with his historic chart positions, MGK is also having a big year at award shows. He recently took home the Best Alternative Award at the MTV Video Music Awards for "bloody valentine." He also presented and performed the single and "my ex's best friend" at the award show.
More recently, he earned a Billboard Music Awards nomination for "I Think I'm OKAY" with YUNGBLUD and Barker. The song is nominated for Top Rock Song alongside Panic! At The Disco and twenty one pilots.
