Magnolia Park on their favorite Halloween memories

Halloween is imminent, and Magnolia Park are celebrating in spectacular fashion with the release of their new album. Aptly titled Halloween Mixtape II, the project acts as a counterpart to 2021’s Halloween Mixtape and features a tracklist filled with chilling titles. Here, the band embrace the holiday of horror and even draw inspiration from Gorillaz, anime, and Nightmare Before Christmas to build a rich universe of characters — in turn creating the ultimate soundtrack for them with no shortage of hooks.

Ahead of its release, the band caught up with us and shared a few beloved Halloween memories. They also compiled a playlist of their favorite scary songs, which you can check out below.

My most memorable Halloween experience would be when me and Fred were 14. We lived in the same neighborhood of independence, and we were some punk skaters out with our friends. We happened to see a cop car parked in the parking lot near our apartments. So we decided to egg the cop’s car and scratch it up. Had to spend the rest of that Halloween running away and hiding in bushes, but I’ll never forget that Halloween night.

In 2011, I was 13, and I didn’t want to go out and was a little bit over Halloween, so I stayed inside and played Minecraft. That was a great night. Sometimes I still play Minecraft.

Freddie Criales

We were on tour so for Halloween we listened to creepy pastas in the car while we drove home.

Joe Horsham

My elementary school best friend Matt and I would trick or treat in the biggest neighborhood in town and end up with months’ worth of candy.

Joshua Roberts

I remember hanging in high school with a few friends, and we did tarot readings while doing creepypastas and then ran out on the town and just had fun in costumes doing nothing but enjoying the night weather.
