Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster - IV

Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster

IV

It only takes Alabama rockers Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster two faux-swamp stompers on IV before they bust out their first cheesy power ballad in “Faith Healer (Bring Me Down).” A terribly hokey piece of gouda that would be right at home with a lower-level ‘80s glam metal band (let’s say, um, House Of Lords or Kingdom Come), this is the kind of do-what-we-want-when-we-want-to cockiness that’s put Maylene at the top of many most-hated-band lists. And after the incomprehensibly bad III from 2009, following a somewhat promising first and second album, these guys had the chance to really prove their worth with album four. The only thing they prove on IV , though, is what they’ve already confirmed with their previous release; Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster stink like wet fart from a bloated biker in a Skynyrd shirt. Seriously, some of this could have been straight off the last Poison record. It’s that bad.
