Meet Me @ The Altar’s frustrations are mounting on “Give It Up”

Meet Me @ The Altar unveiled their punchy debut album, Past // Present // Future, earlier this year. Now, the pop-punk trio are following up the release with a deluxe edition that arrives Sept. 29.

The record comes with four new tracks, including their glorious cover of “Take Me Away” from Freaky Friday, which they’ve been performing live. If you look at their recent setlists, they’ve also been highlighting Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” so hopefully those will receive a proper studio version at some point. In the meantime, you can hear one of the new songs now, as the band shared the fiery “Give It Up” to accompany the deluxe announcement.

“‘Give It Up’ is a song about frustration,” the band say. “It’s about feeling lost, confused, and indecisive about which way to go. A big takeaway from this song is that sometimes you need help figuring it out. Even though we love this song so much, we didn’t think it fit sonically with the initial tracklist of Past // Present // Future. We wanted the deluxe release to be a glimpse into another side of us, giving you a sound that’s fresh, new, and different.”
