Witchrot apparently haven’t been together for a long time. The metal band released their debut self-titled EP on Oct. 21, which you can hear on Bandcamp. Plus, their Facebook page has only been around since Nov. 4.

However, they’re already breaking up—or better: Taking an extended hiatus. The band shared the news on an extremely honest, and pretty amusing, statement on Facebook.

One of the band members, Peter Turik, shared the announcement explaining the two reasons Witchrot broke up: a betrayal and a death. Alongside the text, he shared a pretty dramatic picture of a broken guitar in a trash can full of snow.

The post starts with a heavy revelation:

Due to the unfortunate reality of our guitarist fucking my girlfriend of almost 7 years WITCHROT will be taking an extended hiatus,” he writes.

Turik continues, saying he will likely continue the band in the future:

I however will continue the band in another space and time, being ripe with hate the music is slowly flowing and without a doubt will become the most devastating, torturous music I have ever created.”

He ends up by taking fans for the support and urging fans to “stay heavy.” However, after signing the note, the musician adds:

“Also our drummer died…”

Wait, what? There’s no further information about the drummer’s cause of death yet.

The band has only a little over 3K followers on Facebook, but the post has gained a lot of attention, with around 6.8K shares and 7.3K likes.
