MGK shares intense transformation process for ‘The Dirt’ role

Earlier today, MGK shared the intensive makeup process for his role of Tommy Lee in the Dirt. However, in doing so, he revealed what he would look like without any tattoos.
Additionally, MGK did what anyone with the same opportunity would do: He decided to Facetime his friends, as they had never seen him without ink before. However, the change garnered a plethora of different reactions.

Machine Gun Kelly has recently showed fans a time-lapse documenting the makeup process he had to routinely go through everyday while filming the Dirt.
As we already know, the Cleveland rapper is covered in tattoos. However, to accurately portray Tommy Lee in the Mötley Crüe biopic, MGK had to cover them up with a thick layer of makeup.

Additionally, MGK showed us the equally as tedious process to remove the layers of makeup after shooting.
“This process was everyday for four months straight filming the Dirt, and even longer when we had to add Tommy’s tattoos,” MGK says in the tweet.

While MGK’s visual representation is important, the rapper recently revealed that he spent months trying to master Lee’s iconic drum twirl.

Since the film’s debut, Mötley Crüe released two new tracks from the soundtrack.
The Dirt is based on the group memoir the band wrote in 2001 of the same name. The book was apparently MGK’s “bible” growing up, even though he realizes that might have been a bit problematic.
“When you’re 13, you don’t really understand problems too much, so you’re just looking at all the things that glitter. It wasn’t until we were on set and doing these scenes that we were like, ‘Whoa, this is dark. What are people going to think about this?’” the rapper said. “But there’s something about the truth in that book — the fact that you do fall in love with these people [who] then do this giant nose dive into this dark place.”
