Just before 2 a.m., the gunman opened fire on Halloween night. The masked gunman had apparently approached the pair on 163rd Street in Washington Heights and began shooting.

Another man, who had heard the shots just after going to bed, was in the company of the pair before the shooting.

“I went to sleep and then after that, I heard the gunshots,” the man says in an interview with ABC News. “I woke up and heard one of my friends screaming out.”

One of the victims is a 17-year-old girl and the other is a 21-year-old man. The suspect shot the girl in the stomach before she was taken to Harlem Hospital while the man was shot multiple times and taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital, according to ABC News.

The suspect fled the scene in the mask and a green hoodie and has not been caught. NYPD are currently searching to find a possible motive behind the attack.

Michael Myers is an iconic pop-culture serial killer from John Carpenter’s Halloween movies. The latest installment, directed by David Gordon Green, was released this past October.
