According to Pitchfork, Morrissey’s concert ceased after a fan charged the stage during his encore. While it isn’t uncommon for fans to flood the stage, the lively fan may have taken things to an extreme when they struck the singer.

You can watch a video of the incident below.

Morrissey’s manager, Peter Katsis commented on the occurrence, claiming that the fan’s action was purely accidental, as Morrissey fans are not typically “malicious.”  Nobody was hurt in the process and no arrests were made.

“Nobody tried to punch M last night,” Katsis says in a Facebook post. Morrissey’s fans are not malicious. The fans were simply doing what they have been doing for almost 30 years.”

“The fan in question was certainly more aggressive in reaching out for him than most, so security had to do their job and subdue the fan,” Katsis continues. “That’s all it was.”

Fans commented on the Facebook post, giving thanks to security for keeping everyone involved safe. However, some were certainly bummed that Morrissey’s set was cut short.
