Motionless In White are continuing to crank out new tunes this summer. After releasing their Another Life/Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection EP, the band’s back with a new cover of a classic The Killers song.

For their latest release, Motionless In White have decided to take on “Somebody Told Me,” off of The Killers’ 2004 LP Hot Fuss.

Motionless In White have been hard at work on new music over the past few months. Along with writing for their next album, MIW recently released the Another Life/Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection EP. The latest EP includes reworkings of both “Another Life” and “Eternally Yours.”

Prior to the EP’s release, Chris “Motionless” Cerulli teased that Motionless In White have various projects in the works this summer.

“Just received the final mixes for two projects we are releasing this summer. I can’t wait for you to hear. All I’m going to say is ….. you should stock up on some Kleenex now ahead of time.”

Now, Motionless In White have unveiled their cover of “Somebody Told Me,” the 2004 classic from The Killers.

“During quarantine, we wanted to continue to see what new projects we could push ourselves to create,” Cerulli says. “We’ve always wanted to take a shot at covering an iconic alternative song. ‘Somebody Told Me’ has always been one of those tracks that oozes pure energy and has crazy good hooks that we felt we could transform into a great rock version.”

Cerulli further shares that the cover was created during Motionless In White’s coronavirus “downtime.”

“We are very happy to present this cover as one of the projects birthed out of the COVID downtime and hope it’s fun for all fans to check out and tap their feet too,” he says.

Along with the new EP and cover, Motionless In White fans can expect even more new music from the band soon. Cerulli has shared various details about MIW’s forthcoming record over the past few months.

Back in May, he revealed that some of the band’s new music will have a heavier sound, influenced by the uncertain times amid the pandemic.

“I realized how internally angry I am at missing the shows and the tours that we’re missing because everything I’m working on kind of has this really aggressive edge,” Chris said.

Then, in June, he further said that MIW’s next release will have a good mix of songs as heard on their previous albums. Although the band’s experimenting with different sounds, the next LP will feature songs that cater to all of their fans’ tastes.

“There’s going to be a usual mix of things on the record like we normally do, from stuff like ‘Another Life‘ and ‘Voices‘ all the way to stuff like ‘Thoughts & Prayers‘ and ‘Undead Ahead 2‘ and stuff that we’ve done everywhere in between,” he said.

Motionless In White hope to put out more new music sometime this year. As times remain uncertain, however, Chris said that new music will be released when the time is right.

“I think we’ll be trying to get at least a new song out by the end of the year, but I just hope nobody holds me to that,” Chris shared. “We’re just gonna keep writing, and what happens happens. It might be early next year. I don’t know.”
