Insidious: The Last Key

Release date: Jan. 5, 2018
If you’re like us, then you just haven’t been able to get enough Insidious in your life, which is why when they announced the fourth movie, we were totally onboard. Elise Rainer will be traveling back to the Further as she investigates a case of paranormal activity going on inside a house in New Mexico. What makes this even more interesting is that this is the house Rainer grew up in.

Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built

Release date: Feb. 2, 2016
We all know about the Winchester Mystery House. In case you don’t, it basically goes something like this: Sarah Winchester moved to California after both her husband and child died. Winchester not only began building a house, she never stopped. A medium told her that she was being haunted by all the people that had been killed by Winchester rifles and the only way to please them would be to continuously build her house. We’re totally excited how to see this plays out on the big screen; and even better, Helen Mirren will play Sarah Winchester.

Black Panther

Release date: Feb. 16, 2018
If there’s one thing that the superhero movie genre needs, it’s more representation of POC, which is why we’ve been counting down the days until Black Panther comes out. This movie will take place right after the events of Captain America: Civil War and will feature King T'Challa coming home to Wakanda. King T’Challa finds out there are two different enemies from inside the country who wouldn’t mind taking the leadership away from him.

Love, Simon

Release date: March 16, 2018
Love, Simon is already looking like it’s going to be one of our favorite movies of the year. Simon Spier is a 17-year-old high schooler, but nobody, including his friends or family, knows he’s gay. To make things even more complicated, he’s fallen in love with a fellow student online but doesn’t know his identity. We love this film because it highlights something many high school students go through, yet something that isn’t usually represented in major films. It’s produced by Wyck Godfrey, who produced another favorite: The Fault In Our Stars.

Tomb Raider

Release date: March 16, 2018
Lara Croft will be on another adventure, this time trying to figure out what happened to her father as she travels to an island near the coast of Japan. Alicia Vikander will take on the role of Lara Croft, and we’re totally ready to see her kick some ass.

Isle Of Dogs

Release date: March 23, 2018
If you haven’t yet discovered how amazing of a director Wes Anderson is, finish this article and then binge-watch all of his movies. Some of our favorites include Rushmore and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Isle Of Dogs follows Atari Kobayashi who goes to the island completely inhabited by dogs to try and find his missing canine, Spots. The film features the voices of Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and even Yoko Ono.

Blockers

Release date: April 6, 2018
If enjoying a really raunchy comedy is one of your guilty pleasures than 2018 has you covered. Blockers look like it’s going to be absolutely hilarious. It follows three parents trying to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night. It’s directed by Kay Cannon, who wrote all three Pitch Perfect movies.

Avengers: Infinity War

Release date: May 4, 2018
Every movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has led up to this film. The Avengers, along with a bunch of their friends, will go to war against Thanos in what’s sure to be a battle for the ages. Who will live? Who will die? There’s only one way to find out, and we have to admit: We’re pretty nervous. This battle is apparently too much for just one movie to handle as there’ll be a sequel coming out in 2019.

Solo

Release date: May 25, 2018
There’s no cooler Star Wars character than Han Solo, which is why as soon as Solo was announced, we were all over it. This film will feature the origin story of Han Solo, along with his first encounter with Lando Calrissian, who will be played by the ultra-talented Donald Glover. We’ll even be able to see how he became friends with Chewbacca. What’s not to like?!

Deadpool 2

Release date: June 1, 2018
Did you know that in the comics, Deadpool described himself as “Ryan Reynolds mixed with a Shar-Pei”? After seeing Reynolds completely nail the role in 2016, we have to say we agree. Deadpool will return in 2018 to battle the Yakuza along with a group “sexually aggressive canines.” Not sure what that means, but we’re totally ready to see Deadpool in that situation.

The Incredibles 2

Release date: June 15, 2018
We have waited 13 long years for The Incredibles 2 to be released. Thes teaser trailer showing off Jack-Jack suggests that The Incredibles 2 will take place shortly after the original movie. Sure, we’re a little disappointed that we don’t get to see high school Dash and Violet, but we’re still excited!

Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom

Release date: June 22, 2018
What happens when a giant volcano threatens all the dinosaurs living on Isla Nublar? Send in Chris Pratt as Owen Grady to go rescue them, of course. However, it appears that most of the dinosaurs don’t understand that Grady wants to help them, resulting in a dangerous situation for him and his team. Jeff Goldblum will be coming back to the Jurassic Park franchise as Dr. Ian Malcolm, and we couldn’t be more happy with his return.

The Purge: The Island

*The Purge: The Island trailer was not released by the time this article was published.

Release date: July 4, 2018
The Purge series has definitely featured some ups and downs. While the The Purge: Anarchy was stellar, The Purge and The Purge: Election Year seemed to struggle with a pacing issue, along with having unlikable characters. But, we have faith in The Purge: The Island. It takes place on Staten Island and will show just how the first Purge night went. Our big question, though, is: Will there be a Purge 5 and what will it even be about?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Release date: Nov. 16, 2018
While we all miss the Harry Potter series, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has definitely been a nice replacement. In this sequel Newt Scamander will team  up with Albus Dumbledore to battle with Gellert Grindelwald. Even if you preferred the original Harry Potter series, you should definitely watch this movie just to see a young Dumbledore, played by Jude Law, in action.

Wreck-It Ralph 2

Release date: Nov. 21, 2018
We’re a sucker for Disney movies, and we also love video games, which is why it felt like Wreck-It Ralph was made for us. Wreck-It Ralph and Glitch will be making their way back to theatres in 2018, but this time, they’re taking on the internet. There are so many possibilities here! Can you imagine them wandering through Twitter or YouTube? Even better, the film will feature appearances from all the Disney Princesses, Iron Man, Yoda and even Mario.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Release date: Dec. 25, 2018
It’s hard to think of a rock star more illustrious than Freddie Mercury. The man exuded charisma and put on some of the very best live shows the world had ever seen. Don’t believe us? Watch Queen’s set at LIVE AID in 1985. Bohemian Rhapsody will star Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek and will even be produced by Jim Beach, who managed Queen, along with a few others. While there has been some controversy over the film changing directors from Bryan Singer to Dexter Fletcher, we believe that “The Show Must Go On.”

Batman Ninja

Release date: 2018
Batman is already awesome, but Batman looking like a samurai in feudal Japan is just way too cool. Batman Ninja will feature all of our favorite characters, including Robin, The Joker and Harley Quinn, to name a few; but they’ll definitely look different. This movie also has some of the top names in anime working on it, including Takashi Okazaki, who worked on Afro Samurai, and Kazuki Nakashima, who worked on Kill La Kill and Gurren Lagann.
