MUNA announce self-titled album, share “Anything But Me”—watch
MUNA have announced they will release a self-titled album June 24 via Saddest Factory Records. To celebrate, they’ve shared a new single and music video titled “Anything But Me.”
Additionally, MUNA recently joined Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to discuss their forthcoming record.

MUNA spoke about the single in a press release. “Breaking up is hard to do,” they say. “In the past, we’ve stayed in relationships for a long time, waiting until we hit low lows to admit it was over. ‘Anything But Me’ is a song about leaving a partnership simply because it doesn’t feel right. It’s about trusting yourself and your instincts enough to walk away from someone while you still have love for each other and before it gets too bad.”
The band continued to detail the video and the themes of the track.
“The video for the song plays with the idea that we’ve been our own captors in relationships, keeping ourselves in unhealthy dynamics, maybe because that’s what feels familiar,” they continue. “The song embodies the lightness and a playfulness that floods in when you realize that there’s no lock on the door, no one’s holding you back — you can untie the knot and skip into the sunset whenever you’re ready. Now, who can guess what attachment style I have?”
During their interview with Lowe for Apple Music 1, Naomi McPherson revealed why the band decided to self-title the album.
“It’s a little bit of everything,” they say. “I think it was proving to be a very difficult album to title because it’s not really a story album. It’s nonlinear and non-narrative in certain ways. Obviously, the songs are all tied together in a way. I think we just felt that way was that we are the people that made them. In some ways felt like a bold decision to self-title your third record. I think we just want to have the chutzpah and be brave to make interesting and bold choices. It’s not that interesting. People self-title their albums all the time, and it’s whatever.”
