MUNA have released the music video for their new track “What I Want.” The band also dropped their self-titled album via Saddest Factory.

MUNA toy with the idea of fame in their new video, sometimes dodging paparazzi and other times giving them a show. The band manage to find comfort and a brief reprieve from public examination in the back of a limo. However, that peace probably won’t last for long as they are no doubt being ferried to another crowd that’s waiting to get a look.

MUNA are the cover of Alternative Press’ June issue. In the story, they spoke about queer joy’s centricity in their art and how they hope that message resonates with listeners.

“On our first record, everything was gender-neutral,” Katie Gavin says. “It was always in the second person, which was a tactic I learned from Tegan And Sara. I think we’re ready for it now. When I write a song and I’m writing lyrics, the people that I love are women and nonbinary people, and if that’s who I’m singing about, then that’s who I’m singing about. It wasn’t necessarily a conscious choice with this record.”

MUNA recently completed a run of shows supporting Phoebe Bridgers. The trio are set to start their tour July 28. Click here to find tickets or more information.
