My Chemical Romance merch resales in high-demand following return

We can’t remember a time when the world was this confused about My Chemical Romance‘s plans. Are they returning for good? Is it just a massively impressive reunion tour?

Well in addition to all the theories and guesses, and apart from people reselling tickets for two to three times their original worth, people are now reselling older Gerard Way Funko Pop! figures for exorbitant amounts of money.

With the My Chemical Romance return announcement on Halloween, followed up with their first show in almost eight years at the Shrine in Los Angeles, My Chemical Romance have been riding a massive wave of hype for roughly six months.

A few well-placed teasers here and there. A couple of beautiful videos announcing shows in “An Offering…” and “A summoning…“. All that, coupled with the steady trickle of additional shows and fan theories about the new symbols and statues have increased their return hype greater than ten-fold.

Yet, we still don’t know if it’s a full return with new music and years of shows, or a simple reunion tour. Well put all of those thoughts aside and focus on how some merch is being re-released due to the return and some people are reselling My Chemical Romance products for a lot of money right now.

Plus, it’s also being reported that Hot Topic sales are not applicable for all of the recent My Chemical Romance merchandise that has been released.

The main item on the radars of most is the Hot Topic Exclusive Skeleton Gerard Way Funko Pop! vinyl figure from 2015.

Reportedly, many (if not all) Hot Topics received a shipment of them from the vault for My Chemical Romance’s return. The figure is even available on the website but allegedly, some can’t add it to their shopping carts and it’s currently out of stock.

The Skeleton Gerard Way is a throwback to his Black Parade outfit, complete with the jacket, short blonde hair and skeleton makeup.

Well, some digging around online has shown numerous sellers peddling their ways for much higher than the $12.50 sticker price that Hot Topic is selling them for. Granted, they are in high demand but if you’re raiding your local Hot Topic to sell these Funkos to members of the MCRmy, that’s not nice.

If you were looking for either of the other Funko iterations of Gerard, be prepared to shell out even more dough. Other Hop Topic exclusives are Gerard Way in his classic Revenge-era red tie look and a classic Black Parade-looking Way. They’re going for roughly $100 and $130, respectively.

In other merch news, it is also being reported that the awesome t-shirt deals that Hot Topic normally sports, don’t apply to My Chemical Romance’s plethora of new shirts at some locations.

One Reddit user uploaded a picture and said they spoke with employees who told them the band had requested the action.

One user commented on the post saying it’s a store-by-store thing.

Hi my bf works at HT most if not all bands that are popular the moment (BTS, Melanie Martinez when she announced her current tour etc) become exempt at some point or another for a while MCR wasn’t exempt from all promos and just recently they became in Not sure if it’s the band, label, or management your store is just doing what HT management is being told to do it should be all stores if you can use hot cash it’s cus the store wants their numbers to look good cus hit cash just started up again be patient tho MCR merch will be available for all promos again at some point 🙂

Just keep in mind, if you’re planning on buying My Chemical Romance merchandise from an outside source, be careful. Don’t get ripped off and make damn sure it’s official so our boys in black actually get a portion of the sales. We all know they deserve them.
