My Chemical Romance reunion began with “jam sessions” in 2017

It’s My Chemical Romance Day, and with the reunion show being held tonight, the band recently revealed that they’ve been having “jam sessions” since 2017!

Yesterday, Mikey Way took to Instagram overnight to share a look at the picks he’ll be using for the show alongside Frank Iero, Gerard WayRay Toro and Jarrod Alexander. Iero followed up with a peek the guitars for the big night, but one caption from Fender regarding the word “tour” sent fans into a frenzy.

The G-noting doesn’t end there.

My Chemical Romance took to Twitter last night to express their excitement for the upcoming show.

Apparently, the band got together in 2017 to “see what would happen.”

The sessions were also confirmed by Every Time I Die‘s Jordan Buckley, who says he was asked to leave the room before MCR went in.

We would have been nervous too. Iero responded to Buckey, writing, “they’re our snacks now. ?”

Since the show sold out so quickly, openers Thursday are giving out a pair of complimentary tickets to two lucky people!

Last night, the band made a heartfelt statement on Instagram saying how grateful they are to be opening for MCR at their reunion show at Shrine in Los Angeles, CA.

They’re offering the tickets to someone who comments on the post, picking out their favorite message and DMing the winner sometime this afternoon.

We just want to take a moment to say how grateful we are for all the amazing things we have gotten to do in 2019. Thank you so much. One of the craziest and best was @mychemicalromance inviting us to play with them at their return performance. It’s humbling and exhilarating in equal amounts. They say that tickets cannot be found for love nor money but they don’t know that your boys in Thursday are here to help!

In an effort to make someone out there feel the same excitement and the same passion that we felt when MCR asked us to come play at the @shrinela with them, we are giving away ONE PAIR of complimentary tickets for the big show to someone deserving. All you have to do is comment below and we will pick out our favourite message and DM you tomorrow afternoon with instructions on what to do. My Chem made our day, hopefully we can make yours.

More on My Chemical Romance

The MCRmy has been lined up throughout the day yesterday, with reports of fans beginning their setup Tuesday. Eager with anticipation, some fans on-site caught footage of the band’s soundcheck.

We revealed our dream setlist, and now fans at the venue are stating at least four songs were played spreading across their discography.

My Chemical Romance reportedly played “Helena” from Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and “Welcome To The Black Parade” off The Black Parade. They also apparently performed “Vampire Money” off Danger Days and “Mastas Of Ravenkroft” off subsequent The Mad Gear And Missile Kid EP.

Other fans reported hearing even more than the four initially reported tracks including “Skylines and Turnstiles” “Make Room” “Thank You For The Venom” “Teenagers” “Na Na Na,”  “S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W” and “House Of Wolves.”

Will all of these songs be part of the reunion setlist? Only time will tell.
