Nandi Bushell announces new song with Tom Morello to follow US visit

11-year-old musical prodigy Nandi Bushell has announced a new song is coming. This time, it’s a collaboration with Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello and his son, Roman.

The viral drummer revealed the news Wednesday on Instagram while recalling her recent vacation in the United States.

One of the highlights of the trip included reuniting with Dave Grohlwho previously lost to Bushell in a drumming battle—during Foo Fighters’ concert at The Forum.

The young artist also met with a variety of musical inspirations such as Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers and created music with Tom and Roman Morello.

“Jamming with legendary #guitarist @tommorello (@rageagainstthemachine / #audioslave) and is #incredible son, Roman! We have written an #Epic song together (not the one you hear in our sweet improvisational jam). Our new song is going released soon!!! I can’t wait for you all to hear it! Thank you for welcoming us into your beautiful family!” Bushell wrote.

Morello came across Bushell after she uploaded a multi-instrumental cover of Rage Against The Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio” on her YouTube channel in June 2020 and, as a gift, gave Bushell his signature Fender Stratocaster guitar.

The video, which gathered over 867,000 views, was intended as a tribute to Black Lives Matter and called for solidarity amid civil unrest occurring at the time.

In an interview with Alternative Press, the young musician alluded to the environmental aspect of the forthcoming single and how she aspires to bring change through her music.

“I just asked him to write a song about climate change. [C]limate change is probably going to wipe out the world if we don’t do something about it,” Bushell says. “So if we raise awareness, people can do the right thing to stop climate change.”

While an exact release date for the single has yet to be announced, the track is expected to drop soon, accompanied by a music video starring Bushell, the Morellos and Jack Black
