11 thrilling Netflix shows to watch until the ‘Dexter’ reboot is released

An infamous serial killer is returning to the big screen. That’s right: The first trailer from the all-new Dexter: New Blood series dropped July 25 on the final day of the San Diego Comic-Con.

It has been almost a decade since the season 8 finale of the show, an episode that was Showtime’s most-watched broadcast in the network’s history with 2.8 million viewers. Showrunner Clyde Phillips wanted to make it clear that the show has also aged 10 years.

“One of the things that we all agreed on, and Michael [C. Hall] really insisted on—and he was completely right—is that this not be Dexter season 9,” Phillips said at the Dexter Comic-Con panel. “That we acknowledge the truth that time has passed, almost 10 years have passed, and we pick up Dexter in another place, in another world actually, as far away from Miami as possible.”

The show will premiere Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime, which might feel like 10 more years away to some fans. So while you wait for Dexter’s return, here are 11 shows to check out on Netflix.
