Netflix has confirmed that Squid Game will return for a second season. There is no set date for the season 2 premiere at this time.

Series writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk shared the news on Sunday.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year," Hwang wrote. "But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. And now, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returns. The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”

After Squid Game's global success and speedy rise to becoming Netflix's most-watched series. Netflix chief content officer and co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the show was “absolutely” coming back for season 2

“The Squid Game universe has just begun,” Sarandos says.
