Never Shout Never's Christofer Drew explains newfound sense of tranquility

Never Shout Never brainiac Christofer Drew has endured a lot in his 24 years. While speaking with contributing writer Jesse Richman Twitter for the latest issue of AP, Drew elaborated on his newfound sense of tranquility in life through Transcendental Meditation. “It’s really a nice thing, man. It’s a natural high, really. I’ve gotten higher off of meditation that I ever did off anything else,” the singer/songwriter admits.

He credits much of his new mindset to his embrace of Transcendental Meditation, a form of mental and physical relaxation popularized in the Sixties by the controversial quasi-religious figure Mahesh Yogi. (If you’ve seen photos of the Beatles in India, sitting with a scraggly-haired man in a flowing white robe, that’s the guy.) Indeed, it was a Beatles connection that brought Drew to the practice in the first place: While he professes to have long had an interest, it was attending a Ringo Starr-hosted event for the TM-promoting David Lynch Foundation in 2013 that finally convinced Drew to give meditation a shot. “It’s really a nice thing, man. It’s a natural high, really. I’ve gotten higher off of meditation that I ever did off anything else.”
