New Found Glory take aim at those with “Nothing To Say” in new song
New Found Glory have plenty to say in their newest single "Nothing to Say." The band dropped the track and lyrics video on March 16. The new single is the band's second from their upcoming record Forever + Ever x Infinity that is due out May 29.
Clocking in at just 120 seconds, the new song packs a wallop in a very short amount of time. Dealing with the idea of a bad friend, New Found Glory deliver a strong message to not be an asshole.
Early last month, New Found Glory detailed their upcoming record by dropping its first single "Greatest Of All Time" which is an upbeat blast of romanticism and nostalgia.
Now, New Found Glory are giving us something to be even more excited about with their second single "Nothing To Say." Speaking on the theme of the new track, guitarist Chad Gilbert doesn't mince words.
"'Nothing To Say' is a song for friend circles that struggle with a member of that circle who seems to never have anything good to say," Gilbert explains. "Who feels the only way to be accepted or cared for is to create a split or doubt between others so they can feel needed or heard instead of just being themselves."
"Someone who sees you regularly face to face and shakes your hand and smiles but behind closed doors tries to sabotage and negatively pull people in a self-centered direction. A sad circle where you wish the person could be upfront with everyone but because of their own journey they can’t break through, and it’s all too obvious."
"We hope this song can be a fun release for people dealing with the same types of friendships," Gilbert says. "We definitely don’t think you should drop people in these sort of situations but take a healthy boundary so you aren’t being pulled into it. Try to help that person grow above it."
"Nothing To Say" features a lyrics video that flicks through images of New Found Glory playing live over the years. Check it out below.
"Nothing To Say" Lyrics
Trying to cut me off at the knees,
But no one's getting in my way.
You've got nothing to say.
Spreading lies like a disease,
But you can't say it to my face.
You've got nothing to say.
You latch on, then you run,
And when they find their one,
You want to hand out poison apples.
You think you're in the know,
But you can't see past your nose,
Just stepping stones, you opportunist.
You're so see-through, might as well be a window.
You're so see-through.
You say you've got a hunch, and you don't support us.
This train is moving so get off next stop
Don't you project on me, your insecurities,
The drama's what gives you purpose.
Forever + Ever x Infinity drops May 29. Speaking on the new album Gilbert says it's what fans have been wanting. “This is the record our fans have been waiting for us to make,” Gilbert shares, “The old now feels new and fresh. It was a blast finding ourselves again.”
