Hear MOD SUN channel pop-punk with upbeat new song “Karma”

It’s been a busy year for MOD SUN, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon. From collabs with Machine Gun Kelly to co-directing the Tickets To My Downfall movie, he’s been nonstop. Even though there’s only a couple of months left in 2020, MOD SUN is keeping the energy going with a new upbeat anthem “Karma.”

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, MOD SUN kept busy over the past few months. He released “Kinda Like It Now” and “Stay Away,” the latter of which features MGK and Goody Grace, earlier this year. He also dropped an acoustic version of “I Remember Way Too Much” and joined  MGK in writing the Tickets To My Downfall hit, “Bloody Valentine.”

Now, MOD SUN just released a new pop-punk single with “Karma,” which was produced by John Feldmann. Working with the scene favorite producer brings the rapper back to his roots of drumming for bands such as Four Letter Lie and Scary Kids Scaring Kids in the mid-to-late 2000s.

“Without a doubt, this is the best music I’ve made in my entire career,” MOD SUN says. “When John Feldmann and I got into the studio it was lighting in a bottle. I’m writing my most vulnerable music and even playing live drums on my songs for the first time.”

“With ‘Karma,’ I finally feel like I’ve captured the energy I bring to my live performances into a song,” MOD SUN continues. “This was the first song Feldmann and I made together and it shaped the entire album. This is a song you can send to anyone who ever made fun of you in high school.”

The track marks MOD SUN’s first release via Big Noise of which Feldmann is the head of A&R.

“Mod Sun is one of one,” Feldmann shares. “He is an incredible lyricist and amazing singer and his enthusiasm and positivity are infectious. I had the best time making this album with him and I cannot wait for the world to hear it.”

The rapper first announced the release date Oct. 17 with a clip jamming out to the track.

That same day he answered a fan’s tweet asking if he’ll be dropping an album before the end of the year. While nothing has been officially announced, fortunately for his fans, his reply was very straightforward.

The musician continued to tease the track through the month, tweeting out the presave link and asking his followers if they believe in karma.

As the release date approached, MOD SUN’s excitement for the single continued to grow. He went on to call the track the “biggest release of [his] life.”

Now, the highly anticipated track is finally here. A true pop-punk anthem, MOD SUN journeys away from hip-hop beats and replaces them with slick guitar riffs. With lyrics describing what he hopes karma delivers to someone who hurt him, the singer belts every each chorus with emotion and fervor. Take a listen to MOD SUN’s “Karma” below.
