In a report made by RenewCancelTV, “multiple insiders” have told the site that the show has been secretly renewed for a third season with a set release date sometime in 2019. The news is something that Netflix has yet to confirm, but in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount President Amy Powell says that Season 3 is something that could very well happen in the future.

According to Powell, the series’ showrunner, Brian Yorkey, is already thinking about what could possibly happen if the show ran for a third season, saying: “We're not going to pressure him to create more seasons if he doesn't feel they are there, but he is already starting to think about what a Season 3 could be.”

Powell added: “[Yorkey] was reticent to come back for a second season until he could crack it. He didn't want to commit to it blindly until he knew how to find an entry point into these characters and their stories.”

With Season 2 still a mystery to most fans, it's hard to imagine what Season 3 could even look like. While we don't have much information regarding the second season of the show, we do know it won't take place directly after the events of the first season.

In an interview, the show's star Dylan Minnette, told Yahoo that viewers will be playing catch-up. “There's a time jump,” he says. “Season 2 is a couple months after Season 1, and there's a lot that’s happened to Clay in between. You're playing catch-up when you start, and you see where Clay's at.”

We also know that the show will host a bunch of new faces for fans to get used to. In an article by NMEWicked City and Tyrant's Anne Winters has been cast to play Chloe, a new cheerleader at Liberty High and the show's new “it girl.” Newcomer Bryce Cass will play a supposed “cynical mischief maker” named Cyrus, and Chelsea Alden (American Horror Story: Roanoke) will portray his “artsy” sister Mackenzie—and that's only half the list!

You might be asking yourself when Season 2 is set to premiere, and unfortunately we aren't exactly sure. A premiere date hasn't been officially announced yet, but with production reportedly wrapped, it looks like it'll be out sometime later this year—possibly in the summer, per Thrillist.

While we can't confirm the show is getting picked up for a third season, you can watch the trailer for Season 2 below!
