5 Seconds Of Summer are already working on their next album

5 Seconds Of Summer are just a few months removed from the release of their third full-length Youngblood, but it looks like the band have already begun work on its follow-up.

Guitarist Michael Clifford appeared during the Gibson Experience at NAMM 2019 in Anaheim, California Thursday. While there, he revealed his new signature guitar, the Melody Maker, which he plays onstage and fans will soon be able to purchase.

The new guitar wasn’t all he shared, however, with Clifford revealing future plans while at the panel.

“We actually just started working on our fourth record on Monday,” he tells Loudwire. “So it’s happening, it’s in the works and it’s happening right now.”

When questioned on a release timeline, Clifford says, “Who knows. We’re looking at all possibilities, it could be this year or could be next.”

Outside of working on new tunes, the band are up for Best Duo/Group of the Year at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards. They’ll be facing off with Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Panic! At The Disco and twenty one pilots.

The sixth iHeartRadio Music Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles March 14 at 8 p.m. EST.

The band also recently dropped a new live album, Meet You There Tour Live. The release showcases their latest headlining tour and while it’s primarily songs from their latest release, it also features previous hits from the band’s other records.

5SOS also unveiled a new version of their Youngblood track “Lie To Me.” The new song features Julia Michaels. They later dropped a video for the track just last week.
