5 Seconds Of Summer lament self-obsession in "No Shame" video

Earlier this week, 5 Seconds Of Summer announced their new album C A L M with the single “No Shame.” Now, 5SOS released the music video for the single and it is a leopard print fiasco.

After dropping several singles over the course of the past couple of years, the Aussies have announced the date for their fourth studio album C A L M. The much-anticipated album drops March 27.

At the end of last year, 5 Seconds Of Summer teases fans by launching an album preorder for a release that wasn’t revealed yet. Now, 5SOS fans have the real name behind the mystery album.

The band took to Twitter to announced the date of the upcoming release as well as share its name: C A L M.

“For a band to make it to four albums is no small feat in itself,” lead vocalist Luke Hemmings says in a statement. “But to be reinventing and constantly pushing our songwriting and to come out with music that we’ve never been more proud of makes me so happy to be in 5 Seconds of Summer.”

“C A L M speaks on a journey through a young man’s life, for better or for worse. We are all human and all make mistakes, sometimes we hurt the ones we love and inevitably, ourselves in the process. C A L M leaves the band in a much happier, unified and calm state of mind to continue making albums for years to come.”

But that’s enough for old news, the new video for “No Shame” seems to be a dystopian nightmare. But much like Green Day’s “Oh Yeah!” video, 5 Seconds Of Summer seem to be poking fun at the idea of fame and the infatuation with seeking it.

In the video we see Hemmings fake his own death, a brutal car crash and a brand new car. Not particularly in that order and certainly not with that plain of context.

Speaking on the video, director Hannah Lux Davis spoke about working with 5SOS

“It was so much fun collaborating with the guys on this video,” Davis says. “They fearlessly dove into each scene and trusted me to deliver a visual with this much punch. It’s something different for all of us and I’m excited with how it turned out.”

“No Shame” Lyrics

Angel with the gun in your hand
Pointing my direction
Giving me affection

Love is fatal
Won’t you give it a chance
Center of attention
Don’t you ask me any questions

Go on and light me like a cigarette
Even if it might be something you regret
You got me now now now
Swallow me down down down down

I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough
And no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name
Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name

Lay me in the palm of your hand
I’ll give you my permission
You’ll always be forgiven

Go on
Replace me
When you’re craving something sweeter than the words I left in your mouth
Go on and spit me out

I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough
And no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name
Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name

Go on and light me like a cigarette
Even if it might be something you regret
You got me now now now
Swallow me down down down down

I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough
And no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name
Diggin’ my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you’re screaming my name
