Plus, Ashton shared a heartfelt message to fans about his “feelings of elation” for the future. “Finally, I missed you! We missed you! It’s time for re-ignition! It’s time to spin around this earth a couple of times in the upcoming months, playing our new music, old music, and everything in between… to you all,” Ashton writes.

Tours?! New music?! We're so ready.

“The main motivation for 5SOS is for you to continue falling in love with what we do. And to continue staying true to ourselves & you. Our family.”

Finally, I missed you! We missed you!

It’s time for re-ignition! It’s time to spin around this earth a couple of times in the upcoming months, playing our new music, old music, and everything in between… to you all.

The time that has passed between the second album and the upcoming third album has been an incredible time of growth, in every sense of the word. Writing this I am overwhelmed and I can’t begin to explain the intense elation & nervousness I feel towards showing you what we have been writing and creating. I have personally never felt more true to myself and the body of work we have made. Exploring and pushing existing song writing ability and commitment to the roots of the band is a statement that carries through every aspect of our lives. Family, partners, love, loss, music and everything in between.

I believe as an artist to make the truest and most progressive music possible, you need to love and adore not only your listeners, past and present, but you need to love and adore the process of making art, however hard it is, whatever road it takes you down. It is a constant process of unknowing and sacrifice.

After all, the main motivation for 5SOS is for you to continue falling in love with what we do. And to continue staying true to ourselves & you. Our family.

As always, I hope you adore what is coming, I know my grandma is gonna be all fired up about these new tasty jams.

Much love A-Wizzle AKA (Ashton Irwin)

At the end of last year, guitarist Michael Clifford said that fans wouldn't have to wait too much longer for that new album.

“Our fans were pretty pissed off that we didn't give them an update about releasing an album this year because towards the start of the year, we were pretty positive we'd have an album out by the end of [2017],” Clifford said.

“With timing, it just didn't end up working, but we're definitely gonna have the album out next year.”

He explains that the band needed this time to “perfect the new song and direction” they’re taking, wanting to make sure it’s a final product that they’ll be happy with.

“I think when all the new stuff comes out, it's like a departure of our old sound but it still keeps elements of all of the things we liked about it. It was just time for us to change,” Clifford tells Billboard. “We're at a point now where we're almost ready to put out our first single.”

Clifford says the single is to be expected “really, really early in the new year,” so you know we’ll be excitedly waiting to hear their new music—and their new, more energetic sonic direction.

5 Seconds Of Summer released their last album, Sounds Good Feels Good in 2015, and it looks like 2018 is set to be 5SOS' year.
