Tumblr seems to understand our scene better than most, and that’s been proven with the site’s Year in Review. (via Billboard)

Tumblr has become such a safe space for alternative culture, and Amanda Brennan, Tumblr’s content insights manager, tells Billboard that it's because the site is a place for people to to truly connect over a shared love of music.

“You might not have another My Chemical Romance fan in your high school, but Tumblr is your safe space where you can go and find people who love the same things you love,” she tells Billboard.

“Tumblr is like where you go to share your passions… When you find a space like Tumblr where you can live your life online with the people who feel that same passion, you can share your fan art, you can share your silly fan fiction, just in the same breath that you share these true emotional stories about what happened when you met the band, or the moment you got the album, your reaction.”

After analyzing Fandometrics, there were a few acts she’s surprised didn’t make the cut, including Brand New, Marilyn Manson, Blink-182, Green Day and Slipknot.
