‘A Quiet Place Part II’ is set to invade movie theaters this fall

Here’s some tentatively good news for movie fans. A Quiet Place Part II  now has a release date. The sequel to the John Krasinski-led horror flick should now be debuting Labor Day weekend on Sep. 4.

Paramount Pictures and Krasinksi announced the film’s delay last month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 12, Krasinski took to Twitter to announce that A Quiet Place Part II is best watched together and would be delayed until further notice.

The tweet came as the news was breaking about major theater chains including AMC and Regal closing their doors to combat the spread of the virus

Now, according to Variety and Deadline, Paramount has shuffled around the release dates of films, including Top Gun: Maverick and SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. Top Gun, which was set for a June release was moved to December, and SpongeBob SquarePants moved from May to July.

This means that A Quiet Place Part II was also shuffled into the mix. Its slated release moved from March 20 to Sep 4. The Paramount Pictures website, however, still shows the original release date of the film being March 20.

On Jan. 1, A Quiet Place Part II released an action-packed trailer that introduced us to some new characters in the universe. Before that, a hyper-suspenseful teaser showed much of the original cast including Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmons.

The trailer picked up from the immediate aftermath of the first film. We’re in the car with the family in a blood-thumping scene that shows us the first day of the invasion. We get a lot more action and a lot more looks at the extra-terrestrials that terrorize the planet.

Next, we get our first look at the newest addition Cillian Murphy who appears to have a few tricks up his sleeves but may be harboring a dark secret. Overall, the trailer does an incredible job of showing a divergence from the first film with plenty of scare-packed action sequences.

Then, a Super Bowl ad allowed us to see John Krasinski’s place in  A Quiet Place Part II.

The 30-second clip picked up on the first day of the invasion as we saw in the trailer, but this time, we see Krasinski’s perspective. We watch the start of the invasion by extra-terrestrial creatures with a hyperacute sense of hearing and are shown more suspenseful footage of new and previous characters. It all culminates with a scene of Simmons’ character starring down one of the aliens. Check it out both trailers below.

A Quiet Place Part II is now reportedly due out Sep. 4, 2020. Written and directed by Krasinski, A Quiet Place Part II added Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou to the mix.

Let’s hope this good news sticks. If this is true, that means studios are predicting the coronavirus pandemic to be contained by late summer. Hopefully then the world can go back to normal.
