Actor James Franco and musician Tim O'Keefe announce music collaboration
James Franco can now add musician to his long list of credits (actor, director, artist, former Oscar host, etc.)
Franco and musician/artist Tim O'Keefe announced their new musical collaboration, Daddy, today. Their debut EP, MotorCity, comes out September 25 and features guest vocals by Motown legend Smokey Robinson.
Besides directing Daddy's first music video for “Love In The Old Days,” Franco also designed the cover art for the MotorCity EP. Although considering it's a Polaroid photo of his four bikini-clad co-stars from Spring Breakers (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine who all sport Daddy tattoos) it doesn't seem to have taken much “designing.”
In a press release for the album, Franco and O'Keefe say their motivation behind Daddy was “to push beyond the sonic space of music into the surrounding ecology. Daddy investigates the territories of film/video, installation, and performance while simultaneously exploring the connections that form between them.” Hyperbolic bollocks aside, the real question is, is the music any good?
