Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser dies at 50

Dave Rosser, guitarist for the Afghan Whigs, died Tuesday at the age of 50 following his battle with colon cancer, Rolling Stone reports.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration,” the band posted to their Facebook page.
“Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.”
Rosser had been a member of the band since 2014, playing on both of the Afghan Whigs’ reunion albums—Do To The Beast and 2017’s In Spades—following his cancer diagnosis.
According to Rolling Stone, Rosser served as composer and guitarist on albums by Ani DiFranco, Joseph Arthur and Tim Heidecker.
Rosser had opened up to Guitar World back in May about his health: “I just finished the first six months of chemo and am taking a break. I’m feeling pretty good and my spirits are good,” Rosser said. “I record a lot at the house and have been making a lot of music with friends. I’m staying busy and have purpose. I’ll try to get out and meet the band on a few stops in Europe where they’ll be for a few days. “
