Harry Potter actor Alan Rickman dies after cancer battle
Actor Alan Rickman, known most notably for his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series, has died at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer.
“The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends,” his family said in a statement to the BBC.
Aside from his portrayal of Snape, Rickman also held famous roles in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, Love, Actually, Die Hard as Hans Gruber and in the new CBGB as club founder Hilly Krystal.
