Alex Gaskarth’s pick for “one of the best bands“ ever isn’t who you think

All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth is known for sharing his opinions on the internet.

Now, the frontman is revealing which band he thinks “might be one of the best bands of all time” and no, it’s not blink-182.

All Time Low have worked and collaborated with a lot of different artists over the years. Some of their most recent work includes collabs with blackbear, the Band CAMINO and Tegan and Sara. They’ve also worked alongside blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Good Charlotte‘s Joel Madden on 2015’s Future Hearts.

As well, let’s not forget about their long list of tourmates. Mayday Parade, Yellowcard and We The Kings are just a few of the bands they’ve shared the stage with numerous times in the past.

However, Gaskarth is finally revealing which band he thinks might be “one of the best bands of all time.” On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to profess his love and admiration for none other than Motion City Soundtrack.

“Ok so Motion City Soundtrack might be one of the best bands of all time. Just saying.”

He doesn’t offer an explanation as to why Motion City Soundtrack are one of his favorite bands, but maybe he doesn’t need to?

For some All Time Low fans, however, Gaskarth’s pick may be surprising considering ATL have always expressed their admiration for blink-182. Over the years, All Time Low have attributed their sound, musical style and stage presence to blink-182.

“When we started out we were definitely influenced and inspired by blink,” Gaskarth said in a 2019 interview. “I think a big part of it for me was their energy live. It was very clearly friends going out and having a blast first and foremost, and also making rad music. I was very inspired by that mentality.”

Back in 2019, Gaskarth even admitted he was a Hoppus “fanboy” before the two formed Simple Creatures.

“Fortunately, I met Mark years ago, so I kind of got to get my like hardcore fanboy phase out of the way. I’ve told Mark plenty of times how much I love him and now it’s just like, ‘Alright we can clear the air now and be normal.'”

However, Gaskarth does note that Motion City Soundtrack are “one of the best bands” of all time. So, it’s likely that blink-182 may fall somewhere on his list. Nevertheless, many music fans and fellow musicians are in agreement with Gaskarth’s choice.

In fact, A Rocket To The Moon‘s Andrew Cook and Cameron Hurley and Mike Ferri of We Are The In Crowd joined in on the conversation.
