Alexisonfire drop ambient "Season Of The Flood" as longest song to date

Alexisonfire have just dropped a new single “Season Of The Flood,” their third new song in 10 years

In 2019, the band dropped two singles, “Complicit” and “Familiar Drugs.” Complicit came in May after the band dropped “Familiar Drugs” in February. Listen to “Season Of The Flood” below.

Alexisonfire’s “Season Of The Flood” premiered on BBC1’s Rock Show yesterday. Earlier, however, the band posted three different videos onto different social media platforms. Instagram, Twitter and Facebook all have short video clips that savvy social media users have put together to create an image but it seems to be missing a piece. Check them out below.

Twitter users have pieced together the image below. It appears the be a horseshoe. The image coinciding with the “Season Of The Flood” video also has a horse in it. Exactly what this all means, nobody knows.

The new Alexisonfire song is also their longest song to date, clocking in at 6:55. While we wait for more news, listen to the droney post-hardcore hit “Season Of The Flood.”

“Season Of The Flood” Lyrics

All that is will go away
But come again another day
Through turbulence on proud display
I’ll walk with you into the fray

You want someone to love
You don’t need somebody to hate
You want someone to love
You don’t need somebody to hate

Summer shores will flow and ebb
Ice will form in gentle threat
But without fear we softly step
You’re what I owe, you are my debt

You want someone to love
You don’t need somebody to hate
You want someone to love
You don’t need somebody to hate
Somebody to hate

(Somebody to hate)
(Somebody to hate)
(Somebody to hate)
(Somebody to hate)

I’m lost in the season of decay
And she’s coming to collect again
I’m lost in the season of fire
And she’s coming to collect again
I’m lost in the season of ice
And she’s coming, coming to collect again
And I’m lost in the season of the flood
And she’s coming to collect again
And I always, I always pay in, I always pay in full

But without fear we softly step
You’re what I owe, you are my debt

Along with the song, Alexisonfire also dropped a couple of tour dates. The Distillers will co-headline the shows.

Back in February of 2019, Alexisonfire guitarist Wade MacNeil opened up to AP about making new music after nearly a decade.

“The timing of this announcement hasn’t been chosen for any specific reason,” MacNeil begins. “Alexisonfire putting out this song isn’t a statement to the world or anything. It’s simply the case that we’ve been spending a lot more time together. It’s important to remember that this thing started as just us buddies playing music, and we remained friends when Alexisonfire weren’t active.”

“We’ve now found our way back in a really natural way. It feels awesome that all these years later there are people that still want to listen to us. I’ve been feeling that happiness from the fans as we’ve been doing shows recently, and I just hope everyone is as stoked on ‘Familiar Drugs’ as we are. To be back with Alexisonfire in 2019 is a truly beautiful thing.”
