All That Remains finally find permanent replacement guitarist

After All That Remains’ guitarist Oli Herbert passed away, the band has had an open vacancy for a replacement. However, the band announced that they have finally found their permanent replacement guitarist.

Just before their European tour, the band recruited Jason Richardson (Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin) as a temporary replacement. Now, Richardson has been welcomed as a permanent member.

Just yesterday, it was reported that All That Remains were far from locking down a permanent replacement. However, the band have since taken to their social media to clarify any questions about their direction moving forward.

“All That Remains would like to clarify that guitarist Jason Richardson is now an official member of the band,” the band say in a statement. “Some recent interviews were conducted before a decision was made or announced regarding Jason. But the band has indeed welcomed him into the fold as an official member and is excited to get back on the tour and play for fans.”

In an interview with Metal Shop back in December, frontman Phil Labonte discussed whether or not Richardson would stay with the band.

“Right now he’s just playing the [European] tour,” Labonte says. “We haven’t really discussed at length what is gonna happen after the tour and moving forward with All That Remains. So, for right now, he’s filling in. It’s possible that people will see him next year doing some stuff with us in the U.S. and stuff. So we’ll probably discuss a significant future with Jason or what the band wants to do about a permanent replacement probably after the beginning of the year.”

Oli Herbert passed away last October due to accidental drowning in a nearby pond. A toxicology report revealed that the guitarist had unprescribed medications in his body at the time of death. Herbert had been self-medicating manic-depression, according to his wife. It was originally believed that the drugs made Herbert delusional, and thus resulted in an accidental drowning.

However, recently, police have started growing suspicious of the guitarist’s death.

All That Remains recently released their ninth studio album, Victim of the New Disease last November. The album marks the last piece of work Herbert made with the band. You can pick up your copy of it here.
