All Time Low to take "a bit of a break" in 2019

Following the release of their singles “Birthday” and “Everything Is Fine,” on top of a co-headlining run with Dashboard Confessional, it’s pretty clear that All Time Low had a pretty eventful 2018.

While the band’s 2018 was filled to the brim of things to do, it appears that 2019 will see them take “a bit of a break.”

The band’s frontman Alex Gaskarth recently caught up with Kerrang!, where he discussed the whirlwind that was their 2018, and what fans can expect from them coming in 2019.

“For the last couple of records, we’ve done two-year-long cycles. With Last Young Renegade, it was winding down in the first half of 2018, but then we decided to put out ‘Birthday’ and ‘Everything Is Fine,’ which revitalized that campaign and led to more dates on the calendar. That meant another six months was tacked on to what had already been a full album cycle,” Gaskarth told Kerrang!. “For us, it feels too soon to be properly thinking about the next record—I need to sleep for at least a fortnight straight! We need to figure out what’s next and what All Time Low should be doing going forward.”

While the band will be taking a much-deserved break during the year, that doesn’t mean Gaskarth will be completely stepping away from music for the year.

In fact, as he shared during the interview, he’s looking into doing some outside work with other bands, a goal he’s been trying to complete for quite some time.

“I definitely won’t be stepping back from music, that’s for sure,” he shared with the source. “I’m looking to do more outside writing for other bands. I’ve been passionate about that for years now, but with All Time Low being what it is, it’s hard to find the time I need to dedicate to it. I’ll be making myself available in 2019 to anyone who wants to write with me, so people should definitely keep an eye out for what I’m up to. There’ll be stuff going on.”

While the band will be taking a break in 2019, that doesn’t mean we won’t be hearing from them at all.

It was recently reported that the band will be performing alongside NOFXNew Found GloryWaterparksStory Of The Year and more at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival.

The two-day festival is set to make its return to the U.K. next May, where it will be seeing Leeds’ Temple Newsam Estate host Slam Dunk North May 25 and Slam Dunk South May 26.

Of the band’s performance at the festival, Gaskarth shared:

“There’s been a bit of an ATL drought in the UK recently so we thought it best to come back and tear shit at next year’s Slam Dunk Festival.p with some rad bands. Bring your life jackets.”
