The band’s eighth studio album is proving to be hard-hitting, but still diverse, based on the two tracks released. The lyric video for “Madness,” which premiered over at Loudwire, showcases frontman Phil Labonte’s vocal range, with the lyric video speaking to Labonte’s military background, offering facts about veteran’s homelessness, PTSD, mental health issues, drug use and more.

And the lyric video for “Safe House,” which premiered over at Bloody Disgusting, is inspired by the Dexter television series and is filled with the band’s pit-ready breakdowns and an appropriate pseudo-slasher film-themed treatment.

“Our goal has always been to write songs that we like,” Labonte says. “All That Remains has seen a lot of criticism about the songs that we’ve written and what people think we’re supposed to do.

“We started as a very underground death metal kind of band, we’ve since moved away from that and have never apologized for it. The music we’ve written has been reflective of that and I think the lyrics, the ideas, have always been reflective of that as well.”

Madness is set to drop April 28.
