If you don't live in the U.K., you may have missed the huge award show that happened yesterday. The BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards gives teens a chance to vote on who they think deserve to be honored—from musicians to vloggers to teen heroes. Despite the to-be-expected pop-heavy atmosphere of the show, our scene got some representation with All Time Low performing “Kids in the Dark” and 5 Seconds of Summer stealing the show with “Hey Everybody!”
While neither band took home a traditional award, they were each given their own “Alternative Teen Award” courtesy of Youtubers and Radio 1 DJs Dan Howell and Phil Lester (danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil). The week before, Howell and Lester asked fans to submit their best award suggestions and All Time Low fans didn't disappoint:

5SOS had a bit of bad luck at the show, with guitarist Michael Clifford taking a spill off the stage during their performance, resulting in crutches and a lot of friendly jokes from his bandmates. In the end, the band were more than happy to accept the well-earned honor of “Best Band At Making Their Fans Detectives And Explorers.”
