'Almost Famous' musical to make its Broadway debut in 2022

An Almost Famous musical is making its Broadway debut this year. The musical is an adaptation of Cameron Crowe‘s 2000 rock ‘n’ roll coming-of-age film.

“It’s All Happening…Broadway 2022” appears in the bio of the production’s Twitter page. The project has been in the works since 2018, according to Deadline.

The semi-autobiographical story centers on Crowe‘s early days of writing for Rolling Stone in the 1970s. The film starred Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Patrick Fugit, Frances McDormand, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jason Lee. Almost Famous follows Fugit, Crowe’s stand-in, as he travels on tour with a fictional rock band called Stillwater.

The film’s soundtrack features hits such as Led Zeppelin‘s “That’s The Way,” the Beach Boys’ “Feel Flows” and Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer,” among many others.
