‘American Horror Story’ SDCC merch reveals ‘1984’ location

American Horror Story fans are going to want to check out the brand new merch the show just debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.

The cast of the show was just revealed last week, with a few shocking changes.

After confirmation of two cast members who would not be in American Horror Story: 1984, creator Ryan Murphy is finally shining a light on who will be in the upcoming season.

With season 9 filming underway, Murphy took to Instagram to share a first look at the cast.

“To celebrate the first day of filming the NINTH Season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, here’s the official 1984 cast announcement along with some amazing 80s lewks. Enjoy!” he wrote.

The footage features the cast in full ’80s style, doing camera tests on a blank backdrop and the cabin we already saw in the first teaser.

Back in February, Murphy revealed Emma Roberts would be returning and athlete Gus Kenworthy was confirmed as her boyfriend. The latter caused backlash over the creator’s alleged lack of diversity in casting and Kenworthy’s slim acting resume.

In addition to Roberts and Kenworhy, several other American Horror Story favorites are set to return. Cody Fern is back after working with Murphy on American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Apocolypse.

Billie Lourd, who worked with Murphy on Scream Queens, Cultand Apocolypse, appears in the clip as well as Cult and Apocolypse star Leslie Grossman. Glee actor Matthew Morrison, Pose star Angelica Ross, DeRon Horton and Zach Villa are also spotlighted.

You can see the new clip below.

Now, at Comic-Con, we’ve got some brand new merch. The show pays homage to previous seasons Coven, Roanoke and Apocalypse.

However, there are also clues about the upcoming series, as well as an “AHS 1984” hat. The stickers seem to reveal the show will be set at Camp Redwood. You can check out what it all looks like below.

Who knows what else the merch could reveal, but we definitely want all of it.

Also at the event, the show debuted a “Face the Darkness” experience that looked pretty epic.

More on American Horror Story

American Horror Story fans were crushed when the news broke that Evan Peters would be sitting out season 9 (but it might not be his last). Those who were hoping for Sarah Paulson to maintain the throne for starring in every season may want to sit down.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Paulson, who has appeared in every season, wouldn’t be starring in 1984. The actress debuted with Murder House in 2011 in a small role as psychic Billie Dean Howard. The following season, she took center stage as journalist Lana Winters in Asylum. Since then, the actress maintained star power, but it looks like she’ll be taking a step back in season 9.

According to sources, Paulson will not be starring in upcoming season 9, Variety reports. The site describes her involvement (or lack of) as “not appear[ing] in a significant role” but that she may have a cameo. Variety reports both 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the series, and Paulson’s reps declined to comment.

American Horror Story: 1984 recently revealed it will be airing Sept. 18. With little information about the plot available, you can check out the glimpse of what to expect from the first teaser from Ryan Murphy below.
