‘American Horror Story’ star Jessica Lange says she won’t return to series

American Horror Story has seemingly lost another alum for good — Jessica Lange, who starred in four seasons of the show, said she’s done for good.

Lange was central in Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show and made an appearance in last year’s Apocalypse.

While she’s remained mostly absent front the series since 2015, besides last year’s appearance, we have always hoped she’d make a triumphant return. However, it’s not looking likely.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lange said she doesn’t envision herself returning to the series.

“I don’t think so. I feel like I got the best of it in those first four seasons,” she said. “Great characters. It was exciting to do. I worked with some of my favorite actors but I can’t see that we could ever get back to that.”

So it looks like we won’t be getting a surprise appearance from Constance Langdon in the newest season of the show, and that’s pretty heartbreaking.

Lange isn’t the only series mainstay who won’t be appearing on the latest season, as Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson won’t be featured either. However, it’s been teased that it might not be the end for them in the franchise, with Paulson even teasing a season nine cameo.

As for the cast that is featured this season, back in February, creator Ryan Murphy revealed Emma Roberts would be returning. He also revealed that athlete Gus Kenworthy was confirmed as her boyfriend. The latter caused backlash over the creator’s alleged lack of diversity in casting and Kenworthy’s slim acting resume.

In addition to Roberts and Kenworthy, several other American Horror Story favorites have returned.. Cody Fern is back after working with Murphy on American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Apocalypse.

Billie Lourd, who worked with Murphy on Scream Queens, Cult and Apocalypse, appeared in the first teaser as well as Cult and Apocalypse star Leslie Grossman. Glee actor Matthew Morrison, Pose star Angelica Ross, DeRon Horton and Zach Villa were also spotlighted.

American Horror Story: 1984 aired two weeks ago after the premiere was delayed by Deadpool. You can see the trailer for the season below.
