American Football release their first music video, 15 years later

Fifteen years after its release, American Football have premiered a music video for the track “Never Meant,” which is taken from their seminal 1999 self-titled LP (their only album). Watch the video below, and let us know your thoughts.

Video director Chris Strong told NPR:

“The video for 'Never Meant' takes place in Urbana, Ill., circa 1999. It is a song about breaking up, moving on and forgetting, so I made a story about a brief relationship occurring between two characters at the end of their college experience. I wanted to craft a story that referenced the original album artwork, so we shot in and around the house that appears on the original album cover and used the cover image as a jumping-off point for the story.”

The new deluxe edition of American Football is out now via Polyvinyl Records. The band's reunion dates can be seen below as well.
