Anberlin to reunite for Underoath hometown show

Anberlin took to social media today to announce they’re returning for a show supporting Underoath in December.

Anberlin announced plans for a final album and farewell tour in 2014. The band released Lowborn via Tooth & Nail in July 2014. Their final show together was Nov. 26, 2014 at House Of Blues Orlando.

Now, the band are reuniting to play with Underoath Dec. 14 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa Florida for the Erase Me tour’s final show. Underoath’s tour openers Dance Gavin Dance, Crown The Empire and the Plot In You will also be performing.

The show will also be Underoath’s first headlining arena show, and it’s extra special as it’s in their hometown. As Anberlin are also from Florida, Underoath saw the addition fitting.

“We’ve been playing shows in the Tampa area with Anberlin since we were basically kids,” Underoath says. “We knew them coming back to play this hometown show with us was a big ask—but it just felt right. We have said we couldn’t be more pumped to close out the Erase Me tour with this show in our hometown. But we’ve been proven wrong.”

“All the Anberlin dudes reconnected over this last year, hung on the beach together, and then, when we got asked to play this show with Underoath, in our hometown, the answer was, ‘yeah!,’” Anberlin drummer Nathan Young says.

“I mean why wouldn’t we do that?” Young continues. “Life is short and we should almost always say ‘yes’ to rad stuff. Plus, we’ve been homies with Underoath for 15-plus years. [Guitarist] Tim [McTague] is my brother-in-law and we’ve never played a proper show together. It’s just way overdue.”

Anberlin recently got fans stoked for the possibility of news when they posted a selfie on their Instagram in July (seen below) and updated their profile picture on Facebook yesterday.

WE’RE FRIENDS. AGAIN. STILL. #ANBERLIN
