Anberlin announce first tour in five years

Anberlin took to social media today to announce they’re returning for a U.S. tour this summer, marking their first run in five years.

Anberlin announced plans for a final album and farewell tour in 2014. The band released Lowborn via Tooth & Nail in July 2014. Before announcing they were joining Underoath this past December, their final show together was Nov. 26, 2014 at House Of Blues Orlando.

Following the news the band are hitting Australia in May, they’re revealing a full U.S. trek beginning June 10 in Dallas.

“Hello US friends! We couldn’t be more excited to finally be able to announce our Summer 2019 tour dates. After nearly 5 years away, we have missed everyone out there, so we are coming back out to see you all! Tickets and VIP are on sale Friday at 10am via anberlin.com

More on Anberlin reuniting

Anberlin recently got fans stoked for the possibility of news when they posted a selfie on their Instagram in July (seen below) and updated their profile picture on Facebook.

They then announced their return supporting Underoath Dec. 14 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa Florida for the Erase Me tour’s final show. Underoath’s tour openers Dance Gavin Dance, Crown The Empire and the Plot In You also performed.

However, the band played a surprise show the night before at the Orpheum in Ybor City, Florida Dec. 13.

The show was also Underoath’s first headlining arena show, and it was extra special as it’s their hometown. As Anberlin are also from Florida, Underoath saw the addition fitting.

“We’ve been playing shows in the Tampa area with Anberlin since we were basically kids,” Underoath says. “We knew them coming back to play this hometown show with us was a big ask—but it just felt right. We have said we couldn’t be more pumped to close out the Erase Me tour with this show in our hometown. But we’ve been proven wrong.”

“All the Anberlin dudes reconnected over this last year, hung on the beach together, and then, when we got asked to play this show with Underoath, in our hometown, the answer was, ‘yeah!,’” Anberlin drummer Nathan Young says.

“I mean why wouldn’t we do that?” Young continues. “Life is short and we should almost always say ‘yes’ to rad stuff. Plus, we’ve been homies with Underoath for 15-plus years. [Guitarist] Tim [McTague] is my brother-in-law and we’ve never played a proper show together. It’s just way overdue.”

Anberlin tickets and VIP packages go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time. There will be an AltPress exclusive presale this Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time with the code ALTPRESS.
