Andi Mack is created by Terri Minksy, the mind behind the legendary Lizzie McGuire that we all know and love. According to Cosmopolitan, one of the main characters grapples with his feelings for another boy in the second season, one-hour premiere.

Andi Mack is a story about ‘tweens’ figuring out who they are,” Disney Channel said. “Terri Minsky, the cast and everyone involved in the show takes great care in ensuring that it’s appropriate for all audiences and sends a powerful message about inclusion and respect for humanity.”

This isn’t the first relevant topic the show confronts. Andi Mack revolves around a main character, Bex, who finds out that the girl she thought was her older sister is actually her mother.

These are a few truly real storylines that the young-adult show is taking on head-on, and in an effort to ensure that the story arc is age-appropriate and respectful, Deadline reports that the show screened the episode with organizations including GLAAD, PFLAG, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, and Common Sense Media.

“Starting conversations about trust, love, relationships and family dynamics is easier when a favorite TV show like Andi Mack explores them with humor and heart, and helps viewers figure out how they might handle similar situations,” Ginny Ehrlich, CEO of The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, told Deadline. “Andi Mack gives young people and their parents, mentors and champions a meaningful way to talk about these topics and the power to decide their futures.”

And we're happy to see Disney making waves in one of their newest hits.

The second season of Andi Mack premieres Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
