As most fans know, Biersack is a massive Batman fan. Now, the BVB frontman is living out one of his dreams. He is now the voice of the DC superhero in the new comic Dark Nights: Death Metal. Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, the comic is a follow up to the widely successful 2017 Dark Nights: Metal.

“I’m thrilled to share with you guys that I have been given a dream come true opportunity to be the voice of Batman in @DCComics “Dark Nights: Death Metal” ? Click the link to watch episode 1 & get more info on the comic series & soundtrack coming soon!”

The song is set to arrive on Sept. 16 via Loma Vista and the full Dark Nights: Death Metal soundtrack and band lineup are also on the way.

“Personally, being involved with this soundtrack is really fantastic,” Tim Mcilrath shares. “Growing up, my little brother and I would ride our bikes to the newsstand near our house and spend all our money on the latest comic books, and Batman was a favorite.”

Mcilrath also reveals that guitarist Zach Blair is a massive comic books fan.

“Also, Zach, our guitarist, is probably the biggest comic book geek in our band,” he continues. “He’s talked about how, along with his brother and father, they were all big DC fans – Batman, Robin, Superman, Aquaman, all the comic book series, the TV shows, and feature films. So, yes, we’re all very excited about being part of this.”

Tyler Bates is the executive producer and composer for Dark Nights: Death Metal. He reveals that this project helps bring music and comic books together.

“In Dark Nights: Death Metal, Loma Vista Recordings and I saw an opportunity to bring artists together to create a diverse soundtrack that is inspired directly by this incredible comic series,” Bates says. “Our intent is not to literally create a death metal soundtrack, but instead, to illuminate the darkest corners of each character’s psyche from an authentic perspective that is thematically inherent in death metal music.”

Bates also shares that a short animated film series has been created for Dark Nights: Death Metal. As well, the project’s soundtrack includes a diverse group of musicians and “pop-culture personalities” who help bring the comic to life.

“I’m creating a short-form animatic film series derived from Greg Capullo’s original artwork for Dark Nights: Death Metal,” he continues. “I’ve invited artists on the soundtrack, and pop-culture personalities alike, to voice the characters illustrated in Scott and Greg’s masterful take on classic DC characters. This has possibly never been more relevant to real life than the challenging time the world is currently experiencing.”
