‘Aquaman’ will have a horror movie character cameo

We’re weeks away from DC’s latest film adaptation Aquaman starring Jason Momoa as the titular character. With anticipation rising, Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the final trailer last month. With the last official clips, it seemed there were no surprises left—until today.

James Wan is helming directing duties on the upcoming superhero flick, but those aren’t the type of films he’s usually attached to as he regularly is involved with horror. Now, it looks like we’re going to be getting a bit of a crossover.

Wan directed Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious, Insidious 2, The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 among others. He has also written or produced the other Saw and Insidious films, Lights Out, Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation.

Perhaps best known for his Conjuring universe, which includes Annabelle and The Nun spinoffs, Wan is bringing a bit of that to Aquaman.

WARNING: AQUAMAN SPOILERS BELOW

MovieWeb reported the find:

“Near the beginning of Aquaman, Arthur Curry is led on to Mera’s ship to start a mission. While they are getting on the ship, the Annabelle doll can be seen at the bottom of the ocean, and it’s very brief, which means that a heads-up is a good thing so that you can look out for it.”

MovieWeb also reported Wan was asked about the cameo but skirted the question. In his response, he mentions actor Patrick Wilson who appears in the Conjuring universe as Ed Warren and the upcoming Aquaman as King Orm.

“I don’t know what you are referring to. [Laughs.] I have no idea what Easter Egg you are referencing here, if it’s an Easter egg… Maybe Patrick Wilson is really Ed Warren pretending to be King Orm? What can I say? I’d like to see that film, how about that?”

Momoa first appeared as Aquaman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and again in 2017’s Justice League.

His origin story hits theaters Dec. 21. Check out the latest trailer below.
